Patriotism v Nationalism
Is the United States of America the best country in the world? If the world voted, we would probably be considered one of the worst. Is the world wrong? Hmmm. Let's question Patriotism . . .
Is Patriotism always a good thing? Does Patriotism necessarily mean that we value the lives of "Americans" more than the lives of foreigners? What is the difference between Patriotism and Nationalism? Does sitting down during the Pledge of Allegiance indicate a lack of Patriotism? Finally, how does 1984 inform this question? For example, is there a potential parallel between our saying the pledge and the two minutes of hate or is my even suggesting that somehow "sacriligious"?
By the way, I should not be posting. Posters need to step up.
